NOTE1: I only watched the first season!!! So I am basing all the opinions I am about to share with you on the first 24 episodes. I am yet to watch Kuroshitsuji II.

Why did I start watching Kuroshitsuji in the first place? Because of all those fanarts out there, of course. I wanted to know what the hell they were about. (<-- Get it, "hell"? Okay, nevermind… )

I very much enjoyed this series after watching Death Note and Madoka Magica. It was dark enough, yet also very funny at times.

The following is mostly going to be about the relationship between Sebastian and Ciel. I think this is something many fans of the series argue about, so I wanted to express my own view on it. It is not like I didn't enjoy the other characters and aspects of the series, but I feel this is the most important thing about it.

I know it is lame, but I very much enjoyed Sebastian's character. Yes, he is so perfect it hurts. But would you not expect that from a demon? And yes, okay, I have a little crush on him. Doesn't everyone? Who doesn't want a man who can do all your chores?

I am not sure what I think about Ciel. I keep wondering whether a twelve-year-old can be like that. Then again, having been tortured does force one to grow up very quickly. Plus, he also had very childlike moments, like when he was unable to get properly dressed without Sebastian's help.

The most important question: Do I think there is something romantic going on between Ciel and Sebastian?

My answer is 'no'.

Ciel is too young and too focused on his hatred, his revenge. I do not think he considers anyone for a true romantic relationship yet, I am not even sure he would be prepared to truly love someone. He does show moments of "weakness", when one gets the feeling that he does care about certain people, but I do not think that his soul is in a state in which he would be able to get that attached to someone.

Sebastian is a demon. Whether demons can love someone is a question which neither I, nor any of you can really answer, as I doubt any of us have ever really met any to ask them. For the sake of speculation, let us assume they can develop feelings like that. (Otherwise the whole discussion is senseless in the first place.) Even if Sebastian were capable of loving someone, I am almost sure not even he would go as far as falling in love (romantically speaking) with a 12 or 13-year-old boy.

I do, however, like to believe that Sebastian has SOME kind of feelings for Ciel. Maybe it is devotion, maybe a bit of respect. Maybe he is just intrigued by the way his young master thinks. Sebastian is a very old demon and has seen many things, yet we all know that – for all of us – there are things and people which leave an impression, sometimes when we least expected it. Perhaps this happened here. Perhaps he felt sorry for Ciel for the things he went through. Who knows.

Throughout the series, I was not sure whether Sebastian had feelings of any kind for Ciel. But at the end, he promises to fulfill Ciel's wish of making his death painful, even though he is no longer obligated to do so – he fulfilled Ciel's original wish and the contract was therefore complete. There is certain arrogance in the way he talks to Ciel at all times, but I think anyone feeling superior to someone would talk like that.

What do I think of all the SxC yaoi fanart and fanfiction out there? Same as always. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and their own view on things.

I prefer to see their relationship as not a romantic one, but rather… Hmmm… Difficult to explain. I think it is something which started out as a "business relationship", but developed into a very strange, vague friendship. A friendship which cannot be measured by human standards.

I have no idea what the author really had in mind when writing the story. So this is just the way I like to see it.
